Winter Wonderland // Frozen Waterfall // Oregon Vow Renewal

Imagine hiking through a frozen wonderland on a warm winter afternoon. Cascading through the trees, hiking through snow-covered boulder fields and iced over undergrowth. After a short while, the trail opens up and see this majestically beautiful frozen waterfall dream.

Now, jump back to reality and see that this is exactly the experience we got to capture with Matt + Kinsey. When they first contacted us about their desire to renew their vows in an epic winter wonderland, we went to work. After a few cups of coffee and some research and planning, we found this beautiful gem and presented them with this option. They said yes, and that’s where our adventure begins.

About a half-mile into our hike we came across a beautiful snow-covered half-downed tree followed by a bridge and a tunnel of freshly powdered pine trees. We were able to capture some fun and beautiful moments right from the beginning of the hike.

We continued towards our destination and about a quarter-mile from the waterfall we came across a frozen tunnel of iced branches. We took a moment to feel like we were in a fairy tale and it truly felt like one.

Finally, we hooked a right and came down the ridge, and saw the falls. Most of the photos we had seen when we were doing research for this waterfall were from hikers that had gone to this waterfall in the summer. We never expected the beauty and magnitude that this waterfall offered.
